Stefania Anders RIP

Stefania Anders, a citizen of Poland who has been visiting her daughter in Kilbarry, died peacefully in Cork University Hospital on 7 February. Her loss was mourned by her daughter Olga (and Piotr Pyrka, Kilbarry) and her son Piotr (and Agatha, Bristol), and by her grandchildren, sister and Irish friends. After Mass in St Martin’s Church, Farnivane on 11 February, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, she was buried in the adjoining cemetery.

Fr Rafal, chaplain to the Polish Community in Cork, prayed and preached in Polish during her funeral Mass. At the start of Mass, Fr Bernard spoke of the vision granted to Stefania at her passing from this life. The hospital staff had said that she would pass away in her sleep, but just before her death, Stefania opened wide her eyes and smiled. This beautiful event strenghtened the faith of all who were present, as they prayed that she had passed into the arms of the Loving Father, reunited with all who had preceded her on the journey to heaven. May she rest in peace.
